The DSP-6LP Plug-and-Play Vehicle Detector is a compact, low-power solution designed for reliable loop detection in gate and access control systems. It operates on a wide voltage range of 10–30V AC/DC and draws only about 1 mA of current with no vehicle present, making it an excellent choice for solar-powered and energy-efficient installations. The unit is micro-sized for easy integration and automatically adjusts its sensitivity based on loop size, supporting loop inductance values from 20 to 2000 microhenries.
This detector is designed for simple installation and consistent performance across a variety of applications, eliminating the need for manual sensitivity tuning. Its plug-and-play design helps streamline setup while maintaining dependable vehicle detection across different loop configurations.
A key feature of the DSP-6LP is its fail-secure operation. In the event of a loop circuit failure, the detector will not send a “detect” signal, ensuring the gate remains closed. This makes it well-suited for high-security environments where containment and controlled access are essential.
Fail-Secure Operation
A fail secure detector is designed to keep the gate closed if the loop circuit fails or becomes damaged. Instead of sending a vehicle detect signal during a fault condition, the detector keeps the gate secure until the problem is fixed. This makes the DSP-6LP ideal for high-security applications where controlled access and containment are important.
Note: Fail secure detectors should never be used on safety loops.
Instructions
LED Indicators: Separate Power and Detect LED’s. The green Power LED blinks once per second to indicate the detector is operating and powered. The red Detect LED will turn on when a vehicle is over the loop detection area.
Sensitivity: Automatically compensates for loops lead-in sizes.
Power: This detector is powered with 10 to 30 volts AC or DC. Approximately 1 mA current. The relay contacts are rated at 1 amp maximum.
Connector: Removable 7-pin terminal block.
